Cue the “Summertime Sadness” puns. Lana Del Rey has called it quits with her guitarist fiance Barrie-James O’Neill, to whom she became betrothed in January. So what happened? LDR explained…sort of:
“We are currently not together,” she told a Swiss newspaper. “He is a wonderful person. But there are some things he has to deal with. I will not explain it in detail. This was hard on our relationship. I no longer felt free. We’ll see how it goes.”

Well well well, darlings, so much for the usual “our schedules didn’t work out but we’re still best friends” drek. LDR is telling it like it is–if you can read between the lines. Personally, I think that Barrie-James (ugh will he just pick one first name please?) has some sort of addiction, and perhaps Lana felt a slave to his issues. Or, maybe he had a pesky ex that wouldn’t leave them alone? Or a nosy mom who insisted on calling Lana by her real name? Really dolls, the possibilities are endless. But one thing is for sure, some thing broke these two up.
Or, I guess it’s possible that his own brooding attitude was enough to do them in.
“He’s a very dark character,” she said during a recent interview. “He has months on end where it’s a really dark stretch of writing and waiting, he has his total own world, so…”
